"The splash of a fish, the secret rumble of the mill, the whisper of the wind in the willows and the lazy life of summer days."
A Summer on the Nene, BB 1967

Come and enjoy a peaceful break in the countryside of rural Northamptonshire. Situated next to the tranquil River Nene we have a variety of accommodation options for your stay.

Our well appointed narrowboat 'Sammy' is a comfortable and cosy houseboat on its own mooring. It's an ideal base for exploring the area by car, bike or even canoe!

Sammy is also available for cruising breaks on the river.

Red Kite cabin is our cosy shepherds hut for two overlooking the river.

Green Woodpecker is a spacious yurt and Sparrowhawk is our imposing tipi. Both have fabulous views across the Nene Valley.

Boat Training
Holiday Routes

If you are buying a boat for the first time or taking the family on their first holiday afloat? Maybe you want to use and enjoy your boat more but lack confidence in some aspects of boating? Do you need qualifications for insurance or to gain your ICC certificate?  We have a solution to fit your needs.

We can provide formal training (for RYA Inland Waterways Helmsman or Crew certificates) or less formal coaching on your boat or ours.

For cruising breaks we have compiled a selection of suggested routes with overnight stopping points to help you make the most of your time on the River Nene.

From our base at Oundle you can chose to travel downstream towards Peterborough and the fens and rivers beyond or upstream towards Northampton where the Nene joins the canal network.

Take your first steps in boat ownership under the guidance of our instructors. Learn the essential skills to keep you and your crew safe on the water.

Downstream

2-14 night breaks visiting Fotheringhay, Wansford, Peterborough, Whittlesey, March and Ely

Become Qualified as an Inland Waterways Helmsman on our two day courses. The first step to gaining your International Certificate of Competence (ICC) needed on European waterways.

Upstream

2-14 night breaks visiting Wadenhoe, Thrapston, Irthlingborough, Wellingborough and  Northampton.

Learn new skills and refresh those you already have with a day's coaching to boost confidence and help you get more from boating.
